Aloha from Hawaii

We finally made it. This has been a whole new experience
for us and Tanner. I think it is bitter sweet for Tanner.
It was almost a year ago when Tanner was here for
graduation with his friends. Lots of good memories here.
It has been a challange getting ready, just figuring out
how things are going to work out. It is one of those
things again we take just a step at a time. From the
airport, trying to talk them into putting Scott and
Tanner in first class for obvious reasons, which we
had to pay little bit more and talked them into
bending the rules for us. But it worked and we made
it here. Tanner was well taken care of. The kids
traded with Scott half way and each had a turn with
Tanner. It was definitely more comfortable for him.
Then we get to the hotel and Tanner's wheelchair wont
fit through the bathroom door and between the rooms.
So we called maintenance and asked them to take the doors
off.
Yesterday, we went on the Teralani, there is so many of us
that we chartered the boat. They were able to lift Tanners
wheelchair up onto it. He was able to wheel aroung the whole
boat. They were an awesome crew. They thought it was so
cool that Tanner was doing this they didn't charge for his
ride. When it was time to go snorkeling Tanner was
determined to go in. We put a belt on him and he used a
boogie board to hold on to as he snorkeled. Scott stayed
right by him. After a while, unbenosed to Scott, Tanner
took of his belt and went for a dive to the bottom. (about
25 feet) Scott paniced and kicked so hard to get Tanner
he kicked off his flippers. He grabbed Tanner by the feet
and pulled him up. Tanner said "Dad I was just going for
a dive! What are you doing?". He was the first one off
the boat and the last one to get on. At the second stop
Scott and Traci were out with Tanner. Tanner had spotted
a octopus. He was liking this diving down. So on the
way back in one of the crew members was standing on the
stairs.(Not knowing that Tanner was now diving.) As he
yelled a explicit he jumped in to rescue Tanner. It
scared all of us on the boat. Traci and Scott told
him it was ok he was meaning to do this. It took a little
time for the crew member to calm down. He said he has
never seen anything like that. We told him to hang around
we keep seeing things like this everyday. Tanner keeps
us all in suspense on the next attempt.
Well just wanted to share the first two days. Wow!
Thanks for the love and prayers that are sent our
way. Please continue with the prayers they are being
heard and are helping in every way.
Much love to all!!!

Tanner,
Loved your updated photo gallery!
Every time I watch you and your progress it never ceases to amaze me. I know you must have down days, they are quite acceptable and normal and real and necessary to find the courage to move on. And that is for those of us who don't face the great challenge that you do. But the thing that is so marvelous and amazing about you is that the up days and the fighting thru the down days are what always shines through in your spirit and soul. You can see it in your countenance!
I think of you when I read Alma 48
as Moroni is described:

11. And Moroni was a strong and mighty man......
12. Yea, a man whose heart did swell with thanksgiving to his God, for the many privliges and blessings which he bestowed.......
13. Yea, and he was a man who was firm in the faith of Jesus Christ......
17. Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men had been, and were like unto Moroni, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever........
I would speculate that Moroni had down days but he moved forward in faith in all God required him to do. Great men fight great battles and always win with faith and the help of God. Just like you are doing.
Your family must be gone. I have missed seeing you and all the Godfrey's out my kitchen window. Hope wherever you are, you are having a great time!!!!! Come home safe!

P.S. Since I fall so perfectly in the "dumb blond" catagory I will leave you with my favorite dumb blond joke.
A blond calls her boyfriend and says. "Please come over and help me. I have this killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started.

Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it is finished?"

The blond says, According to the picture on the box it is a rooster.

Her boyfriend decides to go over and help her with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where the puzzle is spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,

"First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these peices into anything that resembles a rooster."

He takes her hand and says,
"Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then, he said with a sigh......

Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."

Ok, Tanner, sorry, that is good as it gets from me! Love ya, Brenda
