Saturday, December 1st Update

Tanner has moved to rehab. This is great news because it means he is medically stable. After talking to the surgeon we found good news in that there were no bone spurs into the spine which means that he has had no spinal fluid leaking and it was more of a blunt trauma. Tanner has a 18" incision on his back from the surgery and today they removed 37 stitches. He has now started intense physical therapy during the day so visiting hours will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Today, Tanner exceeded the goal of the Physical Therapist of sitting in a wheelchair for 20 minutes, by staying in it for 55 minutes - WAY TO GO TANNER! He took a tour of the physical therapy area where he saw the parallel bars they use to help patients walk. He told his Grandma, "That's where I will be walking!" Tanner is a fighter and he will not settle for less! He has kept his spirits high. Thanks again for all the prayers, visits, and love - it is what keeps us going!

Dear Tanner,
We are amazed at your positive attitude and strength. Today was a great day to be able to fast again for you and your family. The spirit at church was so strong, especially when your Mom bore her testimony. You are so blessed to have parents with so much faith and hope. We know that you will get better with the courage and strength of your whole "team." You are a great example to so many people. We hope that you can feel the comfort and blessings from eveyone who is praying for you and pulling for you to get better. Love, The Astle Family, Emilee, Michael, Aly, Katie, Laura and Alan

Tanner,
Hey motor maniac! It sounds like you're doin' very well. You're an amazing kid. I can honestly say that if I was in the same siuation as you then I would be wallowing in self pity. But you're a Godfrey and don't fear for the future; you work your hardest reguardless of what anyone says. You're an amazing example to me.
Your strenghth and faith give me hope.
continue to get better! I am praying for you.
